The Telynau Tlws Harp Ensemble – comprising harpists from the county’s primary and secondary schools – were recently invited to a workshop given by internationally acclaimed Royal harpist Claire Jones at Ysgol y Preseli.

During the workshop the harpists were invited to perform with Claire at her public concert held on April 18 at Theatr Mwldan, Cardigan.

The eighteen young harpists had the honour of taking to the stage and performing in front of a capacity audience.

Peripatetic music teacher, Iris Thirkettle from Broad Haven conducted the Harp Ensemble and husband John was the accompanist. They performed five pieces and Claire Jones joined them with her golden harp for their final piece ‘Let it Go’ from the film ‘Frozen’.

It was a very successful concert and all the pupils felt privileged to play at such a prestigious concert with such an outstanding star performer of the instrument.
