Fatal cliff fall at Mwnt [Updated]

ON FRIDAY (Jun 17) at 7.50pm, Dyfed-Powys Police were called to a scene at Mwnt in Ceredigion following reports from shocked bystanders of a car passing through a field and cascading over the cliff’s edge.

Cardigan rescue teams and Gwbert Coastguard were rapidly deployed to the location, followed by Cardigan Lifeboat and St Athens search and rescue helicopter, which helped with the effort to retrieve the man in question.

[UPDATE] On Monday (Jun 20), The Senior Coroner for Ceredigion, Mr PL Brunton, opened an Inquest touching the death of Gary Christopher Chilton aged 42years, from Manchester.

Eric James from the Coroner’s Office said: “Evidence of identification was taken and the Inquest was adjourned to a date to be fixed.”
