THE SEARCH for two teenage boys who were swept out to sea at Barmouth on Sunday (Aug 7) has been “terminated, pending further information” an official has announced this afternoon (Aug 9).
The boys have been named as Waseem Al-Muflehi and Yahye Mohamed from Birmingham.
Holyhead Coastguard received a 999 call reporting that people were in difficulty in the water off Barmouth beach on Sunday afternoon and immediately launched a search of the area involving Barmouth and Aberdovey RNLI lifeboats, Coastguard rescue teams from Barmouth, Aberdovey and Fairbourne and the Coastguard rescue helicopter from Caernarfon.
Welsh ambulance service Helimed and North Wales Police also attended.
The search began at 1:40pm on Sunday and was called off for the night at 6:30pm. The search resumed yesterday (Aug 8) however the search was called off for a second time yesterday evening with no sign of the boys.
