AN INITIAL briefing for prospective candidates and agents will be held on Thursday (Mar 9) commencing at 5.30pm in the Aeron Fach Conference Room, Theatr Felinfach Campus, Dyffryn Aeron, Felinfach, SA48 8AF for the local elections which will take place on Thursday, 4 May, 2017.
The briefing will be delivered by the Returning Officer, Bronwen Morgan. The session is open to anyone interested in standing in the local elections (County Council and/or Town and Community Council) either as an independent candidate or on behalf of a political party.
It will outline what is involved in the nomination process, the roles and responsibilities of candidates and agents, eligibility to stand for elections, the election campaign, attending electoral proceedings and answer any questions you may have.
Key personnel from the Electoral Commission, Dyfed-Powys Police and the Council’s Electoral Services will be in attendance to provide training and answer your questions.
Nomination papers for those who wish to become a candidate will be available from Monday, March 20 following the publication of the Notice of Election. Nomination papers can be submitted until the close of nominations at 4pm on Tuesday, April 4.
