Aberaeron thrash Bynea

League 3 West C

Aberaeron 40

Bynea 0

Try: Rhodri Jenkins dives over for a try for Aberaeron

ABERAERON stayed second in the league as they eased to a 40-0 win over Bynea last Saturday (Mar 11).

The end result was well worth the wait, but it took well until into the second half before Aberaeron overcame a valiant Bynea outfit to register the double and secure second position in the league.

In the end it was a comfortable success, but despite being in the supremacy for the majority of the game there was a lack of clinical finishing in the early stages that could have threatened the final result.

From the first whistle the visitors were subjected to frantic defence and the pressure told within five minutes as hooker Sion Evans registered the first try.

But rather than push on, chances went astray as promising positions failed to materialise in points.

This was finally overcome when impressive centre Ollie Sawyer weaved his way over to double the score with Rhodri Jenkins adding the conversion.

It was much of the same for the opening period of the second half as Bynea repelled the home threat, and it took two individual efforts from outside half Jenkins to break the resolve, scything through from long range to crown a man of the match performance, adding the conversions to secure the victory

Much of the credit will go the front eight with captain Alex Danton leading by example with strong displays from the back row of Alistair Severs, Sean Stevens and Aaron Lewis.

With the bonus point secure it was case of how many and Kieron Etheridge added his name to the scoreboard followed closely by Lewis Donnelly for his first for the club.

Jenkins’ fine kicking display continued with the additional points and despite the odd foray Bynea were unable to bother the scoreboard.

Coach Justin Lloyd also had the luxury of introducing the next generation with youth players Morgan Llewelyn, Bleddyn Thomas and Iwan Evans contributing. The future looks in safe hands as we look forward to the next campaign.
