Two rescued from housing complex fire

Maes Mwldan: Where the fire broke out

A FIRE broke out at a housing complex in Cardigan this morning (June 6) at approximately 6:30am.

The fire at Maes Mwldan, which has 48 apartments and offers care and support for residents, lead to two men being rescued by firefighters on the third floor.

A Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service spoksperson: “We received a call at around 6.30am this morning to reports of a fire in a housing complex in Cardigan.

“Crews from Cardigan, Crymych, Newcastle Emlyn and Fishguard all attended and used six breathing apparatus, thermal imaging cameras and a main jet.

“Two crews remain in attendance.”

All residents evacuated the complex as the fire service dealt with the blaze.

One was transported to Glangwili Hospital.

No serious injuries have yet to be reported.
