BEN LAKE MP has raised concerns with HSBC over the temporary closure of its branch in Cardigan.
Issues were raised with Ben Lake with the unexpected closure of the branch recently following the discovery of a hazardous material while the bank set about undertaking work in preparation for a new-style ATM machine. Following concerns raised by constituents, Ben Lake contacted HSBC to get a swift reply for their customers in the south of Ceredigion.
Officials told Ben Lake MP that the discovery had resulted in a longer than expected closure period and that it anticipated that the branch will re-open on Thursday 13th July.
Ben Lake said: “I’m glad to get such a swift answer from HSBC, and I feel assured that the closure is only temporary. I’m also glad that the bank has made moves to secure the safety of staff and customers at the branch.
“HSBC have informed me that customers in Cardigan can take much of their business to the Post Office, Lloyds Bank and Natwest temporarily, until the re-opening of the branch on July 13.
“There has also been a daily bus scheduled at 10am and 2pm from outside the Cardigan branch to take customers to the nearest HSBC in Haverfordwest. I urge people to take advantage of this if they are eager to talk with HSBC directly.”
