‘Y Tad’ coming to Theatr Felinfach

Published

on

THE PLAY ‘Y Tad’ will come to Theatr Felinfach on March 2-3. The drama – which discusses the contemporary theme of dementia – has led the Theatre to undertake dementia training to better understand how the condition could affect their users.

The play is part of a forthcoming season by Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru that explores the themes of Care and Community, celebrating the National Health Service’s 70th anniversary in 2018. The company will work with organisations such as Age Cymru and Alzheimer’s Society Cymru to gain expert advice in support of this season.

‘Y Tad’ is a new Welsh adaptation by Geraint Løvgreen of the play ‘Le Père’ by Florian Zeller. The work won the National Eisteddfod of Wales 2016 competition for translating a play into Welsh. The original French play won the Molière Award 2014 for Best Play. The Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru production is in association with Pontio.

While preparing to host the play, Theatr Felinfach staff had the opportunity to receive Dementia Friends Training. The Theatre’s Business and Marketing Manager, Rhian Dafydd said, “Ensuring the wellbeing and enjoyment of our customers and users is already central to our work, but the training has made us consider in greater detail how dementia could affect them and their families.”

‘Y Tad’ will be performed at Theatr Felinfach on March 2-3 at 7:30pm. A matinée performance will be performed at 1:00pm on March 2 and an after show discussion in the evening.

Tickets available from the Box Office on 01570 470697 or online at www.theatrfelinfach.cymru. Tickets are £11 for adults, £10 for pensioners and £9 for children.

There is a special offer of a 10% discount for National Health Service staff.

This is a Welsh language production. English language access is available via the Sibrwd app.

WINDS of up to 70mph could batter the county on Monday and Tuesday (Sept 17-18) with a yellow weather warning issued by the Met Office.

Storm Helene is set to arrive on Monday evening at around 6pm and last until Tuesday at around 8am.

Operational Meteorologist for the Met Office Martin Bowles said: “An issue is that trees are in full leaf and so are more likely to be blown over in strong winds than they would be in the middle of winter.

“That could be a problem.

“The storm will head straight up through the Irish Sea and across the North of England on Monday night, bringing some heavy rain and some strong winds.

“We have updated some areas to a yellow warning.”

Motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journeys and take extra care on the roads.
