Drugs dealers trying to sell ecstasy and cocaine jailed

Published

on

TWO young men sent by a drugs gang in Bristol to sell ecstasy and cocaine in Aberystwyth have been jailed.

Police thought they were looking at a ‘missing person’ when they saw Savi Loki, aged 19, but he made off after being questioned.

Officers went to the Cambrian Hotel and, in the room he and his friend Callum Smith had just vacated, found £2,305 in cash plus 101 grams of ecstasy.

Loki, of Emersons Way, Bristol, and Smith, of Russle Grove, Bristol, admitted possessing the drugs with intent to supply.

Judge Peter Heywood told Swansea crown court the men had travelled to Aberystwyth knowing it was a university town and that they could sell drugs.

And it was clear by the amount of cash that police recovered that they had been busy selling before being caught.

Both Loki and Smith had given police false names and made off.

But a search of their bedroom at the Cambrian Hotel revealed what they had been doing and they were tracked down.

Judge Heywood said there were vast profits to be made out of selling drugs but those who took the risk would pay the price.

“Those who deal in drugs will receive sever sentences,” he added.

He said he accepted that Loki and Smith had been “mules” acting on behalf of more sophisticated dealers.

Smith was jailed for 33 months and Loki for 28 months.

Storm Helene could bring 70mph winds

WINDS of up to 70mph could batter the county on Monday and Tuesday (Sept 17-18) with a yellow weather warning issued by the Met Office.

Storm Helene is set to arrive on Monday evening at around 6pm and last until Tuesday at around 8am.

Operational Meteorologist for the Met Office Martin Bowles said: “An issue is that trees are in full leaf and so are more likely to be blown over in strong winds than they would be in the middle of winter.

“That could be a problem.

“The storm will head straight up through the Irish Sea and across the North of England on Monday night, bringing some heavy rain and some strong winds.

“We have updated some areas to a yellow warning.”

Motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journeys and take extra care on the roads.
